About This Listing

This is a Gibson F4 made in 1916 (serial number 31054) in wonderful condition.  I've had it for 50 years.  It is all original except for a new professionally made pick guard copied after the deteriorated original (which I will include; it has the serial number scratched on the underside ).  These instruments are becoming difficult to find in original condition without repairs;  it will only go up in value (and you get to play it while it does).  The craftsmanship is exquisite.   It was ordered without the extended fret board which I feel helps the sound.  The first 5 frets have been professionally replaced so there is no noticeable fret wear.  It plays like a dream.  It has a wide range of wonderful sounds;  the video above shows its rowdy sound.  It has a tiny crack on the front by the lower point (see photo of tail pin) which has not changed since I've had it.  There is a small scar on the back of the neck (see photo). Somebody, before I got it, scraped off part of the label looking for the stamped serial number exposing the first number which is 3  (see photo).  The case is structurally sound but has no leather left on the handle and is worn to the wood in places.
