Another of those odd
Bulgarian guitars with the extra soundhole.
I have seen Orfeus also spelled Orpheus, and also seen these labelled
Cremona with a C while the bigger Zornitsa type I also have listed was made by
Kremona with a K. Or maybe it is just
that the Bulgarian alphabet does not always translate the same?
Anyway, this one is
the smaller of the two, with a lower bout measuring 38cms (15”) across and a
nut width of 44mm. It also has a smaller
solid headstock (rather than the big, slotted type), with the original
three-on-a-strip tuners, tailpiece and bridge.
Finished in a nice cherry sunburst with decoration to both soundholes
and a ‘pearly’ scratchplate. There was a crack at the lower end of the top that has been repaired with a cleat from underneath, so that is quite safe, and otherwise only very minor wear marks, the finish for the most part is in very good clean condition. I have tried to show it as best I can in the photos.
Ideal for folky
fingerpicking, blues or Gypsy Jazz while standing out from the crowd with something different.
I also have a slightly larger Kremona listed of a similar design and a few other rarities; check my listings.
