This is Wes Lambe's 2008 8S #8508-62. A right handed Charlie Hunter style 8 string with 3 bass strings and 5 guitar strings, each with their own outputs. The lowest string is a 29 inch scale, and the highest is a 25.5 inch scale. It includes many custom features which would all be extra if you were to order from hybrid guitars. These include:
- The shape, which allows comfortable playing in all positions
- The beautiful finish!
- Rosewood Fretboard
- Ash body
These features alone would take the price of a new unit to well over $4500 USD, if not $5000
Moreover it includes some features which are not available at all:
- Separate Lindy Fralin Humbuckers for the guitar side
- Custom electronics, including a 3 position switch, coil taps for each humbucker, a series/parallel switch, and an in-phase/out-of-phase switch for funk sounds.
These features together give the guitar basically every tonal option you would want in two top of the line humbuckers. If you're a classic rock and blues tone purist this is the dream setup.
I never thought I'd sell this. It was a working instrument, treated very carefully. It has some minor wear as a result. Moreover the initial placement of the bridge saddles was set slightly too short, and the intonation was slightly off. I had a luthier correct this when he noticed it, because I live in Canada and shipping to and from Wes was prohibitively expensive. As a result you can no longer do string-through with the bass strings, because we didn't want to drill more holes in the body. This has not been a problem but you can see in the pictures that there are small holes visible in front of the bass saddles from their initial placement. People like me don't care as long as it works, but if cosmetics matter to you you should know about this.
All original paperwork is included: invoice, bill of sale, details, warranty, allen keys for saddles, even a stack of wes lambe business cards. Also includes hardshell TKL case.
Note: it only has 7 strings in the picture because I've been practicing 7 string lately.
