Selling Crowther Hot Cake in excellent condition. Has velcro on back that can be easily removed.
This version (mkIII) has two internal switches that allow you to select Bluesberry or standard mode, and Bass or Guitar mode. Covers everything from a subtle clean boost to THICK overdrive & into fuzz territory. Incredibly responsive to dynamics, pick attack, etc.
One of the classic overdrive circuits of all time. Paul Crowther invented the Hot Cake in 1976 for the guitarist in his band -- Neil Finn of Split Enz, who still uses it to this day. Other notable users are Noel Gallagher (Oasis), Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), Stephen Malkmus (Pavement, SM & the Jicks), J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.), Nels Cline (Wilco), Ed O'Brien (Radiohead), and Adrian Utley (Portishead). Pretty distinguished company!
I've used this pedal on both guitar and bass, and it especially pairs well with Vox-type amps. It excels at pushing an amp on the edge of breakup into sweet territory. Would love to keep it, but thinning the herd.
