For sale is a used Sano GX-10 Solid State amp. Information on this amp has been incredibly hard to find, if you happen to know more about it, we would be incredibly grateful for contact with information and sources.
Here's what we've been able to piece together on it:
This model is likely something of a solid-state "brother" to the older, more known GS-10 "Sanoette" model. The amp is conceptually similar with the same control layout (two input, volume, trem, and tone knobs, with the tone also acting as a power switch) as well as the light and fuse on the front panel, only with switched positions.Appears to be hand-wired, although I haven't seen a Sano amp that hasn't.This is from the second manufacturing location - Cranford, NJThis amp likely at some point had a plate on the grill-cloth with the last Sano logo (rectangular and capitals in modern block lettering.) but has since been removed.Dating the amp components indicates it was manufactured in the 70s, although it does not pinpoint an exact year. And to give credit where credit is due, we were able to get some of this information from:
(particularly the picture examples of similar models)
Now, for this amp itself. The amp, for its age is in good condition. But there are some flawed details that are very much present, especially if you're looking for them:
Two nicks in the tolex - one on the side, and one on the top. The one on the top exposes the inner layer of material.Tolex and accent separation on the corners.Rust on the corners, screws, and input jack nuts.Scuffs and dirtSignificant tolex separation along the bottom accenting and along the back holeThe knobs are dirty and cause some crackling. This amp is functional, but we are noticing there is some slight distortion (we have no reference points on this amp and don't know if this is intentional) so please keep that in mind. Both jacks work, and the knobs are all functional despite being dirty.
Very open to negotiation. We recently relocated and would like to see some of these type of items go before the move. All we ask is that you please be reasonable in your negotiation and offers. Thanks!
