Kay 1965 Titan III Deluxe Artist
The guitar has a walnut body, Kay tremolo system, three silver-blue ‘kleenex
box’ pickups, three-way switch, a Melita Synchro-Sonic bridge (the same
as on vintage Gretsch guitars), and Grover pat. pending ‘milk-bottle’ tuners.
The input jack is located at the back of the body. The guitar comes with
its original case. There are the usual
signs of wear and minor paint chipping, one of the bridge
adjusters has been replaced from a Gretsch parts site, and the three-way switch
does not match the original catalogs and may have been switched out by a
previous owner. This is a rare, classic
guitar. The electronics, bridge, and tuners were the highest quality offered at
the time. The three-way switch settings are 1) neck/middle, 2) middle, and 3)
middle/bridge. On setting three, if you turn the tone pot to 10 the pickups go
out of phase. The pickups are fat, single coils that produce a deep resonant
sound that breaks up beautifully on an overdriven amp. The guitar is set up and
ready to play.
