Up for sale are 4 vintage Pre-Rola Celestion speakers. These came out of a vintage basketweave Marshall 4X12 Cab. I decided to separate the cab and speakers because the cabinet at some point had its original red tolex tore off and it was spray painted dark green over the entire cab (including the speaker grill cloth!) Since the cab isn’t original anymore, I decided to part the speakers out as a set for someone.
Two of the 4 speakers are all original and very VERY rare. They are 102 003 cones that have metal dust cones on them. YES…factory original cones with metal cones. Back around 2009 I had contacted Jim at Scumback speakers, who is a well known expert on Celestion speakers about these. He had never seen one in person but validated that they did actually exist in very small numbers. In his words “You have probably the rarest original 102 003 cones I’ve come across”
The other two speakers are Waldom recones. These are vintage re-cones that are well broken in and sound great. One has a matching metal dust cone and the other does not. The Waldom redone speaker without the metal dust cap has two minor edge tears that were professionally patched back in 2010. I have used these speakers for almost 10 years in a professional recording studio and they all sound excellent. The metal dust cones are very unique, and nothing else sounds like them!
Here is a breakdown of each speaker
