1980 Martin D-35 Natural with OHSC
This is a nice 1980 Martin D-35 for sale with original case; serial number 436314. I always wanted one of these D-35s when I was younger, but now find my old-self preferring my smaller Gibson and Waterloo parlor-size guitars.
This is the era of Martins that don’t have truss rods in them, so most of them end up getting neck resets at some point. This one had some buzzing issues, but it was determined to be not at the point of a neck reset. However, it was refretted and Plek’ed with a new bone nut. The bridge was also reinforced underneath with a Plate Mate, but the original saddle was kept.
A vast improvement, with just a tiny bit of buzz when my ham hands are working it over.
The front is in pretty decent shape, but there is a small chip on one corner of the headstock. The back shows a lot of what I assume is buckle rash, and there are two places where the finish is worn through or damaged. There is also a heavily worn spot in the finish on the back of the neck between the 2nd and 3rd frets.
The case is in good shape; clean, no smells, and all three latches work well.
Cosmetics aside, this is a very solid player.
