Hello and welcome to the House of Chrome.

You are looking at a vintage 1987 Electro Voice model DS-35 dynamic cardioid microphone that comes with an original E.V 312 model mic clip and vintage E.V mic case. This rugged classic microphone was made by E.V in the U.S.A for almost 30 years before being discontinued and was a high quality model used for several applications.

Pic # 2 shows this very model in an older 1970's era E.V catalog I have showing a little info on the mic itself.

Pic # 3 is from an actual DS-35 data sheet you'll be receiving that shows a ton of the mics basic specs and technical characteristics.

The data sheet is in very nice physical condition and will really come in handy too.

I have been told by several singers who have used both the RE-16 and DS-35 that they actually prefer the sound of the DS-35 better. I believe the DS-35 has a flatter response than the RE-16. This is an excellent mic for toms / drums as well.

The E.V DS-35 is a light weight microphone set at 150 OHMS (Medium to Low impedance) and it has a smooth, warm tone that's excellent for broadcasting and singing. This was basically an RE-16 model mic without the bass adjustment lever and a flatter response. It has more of a ribbon like tone so if that is what you desire this mic may very well be great for your needs.

It's also uni-directional picking up only your voice directly in front of the screen and cancelling out unwanted background noise. The DS-35 is one of the better uni-directional mics I have personally heard.

It has a stronger signal when using the cable with the male 1/4 inch. The XLR to XLR cables just don't work as good. Nothing some good gain won't solve though. Again, it has a much stronger signal when used with a 1/4 inch cable.

I don't know the first year this was introduced but it seems to have started production in the late 1970's to the early 2000's before being discontinued.

The chrome screen is very nice with no dents or tarnish. The painted body shows typical wear. Zero dents or fractures but there is chipped paint and deep scratches. The E.V label looks excellent and completely legible.

It should be noted that this mic has the new upper and lower inner liners. These inner foam screens greatly help with the acoustics of the mic as well as keeping the lower screen steady. The foam is in great shape and will last for several decades to come. The foam / pop filter cuts down any unwanted feedback due to wind or breathing. If you buy a DS-35 you will absolutely have to replace the original foam.

The mic measures 7 1/2 inches long and 1 3/4 wide at the screen. Very light and versatile.

I'd give the mic a solid 6 + physically on a scale of 1 - 10. The real beauty is that sound it produces. The mic takes a standard XLR cable which is not included.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   The Electro Voice mic clip is also included and it fits the mic nicely allowing for a wide range of tilt up and down. The clip will screw on to any microphone desk or floor stand. The clip has the adjustable tension via side screw. The clip is in very nice physical condition as well.  The original E.V mic case is included as well and in good overall physical condition. It's an all metal construction with a stock painted finish. There is two new foam pads to keep the mic safe and snug. The case has a nice locking mechanism that works excellent. Just typical physical wear on the outside but an excellent accessory to have. If you demand an excellent working DS-35 to use frequently...this is your mic.   MICROPHONE STAND IS FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY...NOT PART OF THIS SALE.
