About This Listing

NO TRADES or PART EXCHANGE

Up for sale is my 1988 Gibson ES335. It's in the highly desirable sixties cherry red finish. It is all original, and it has to be up there with the best of them and is a real rock machine through and through.

It plays great with a lovely feel to the neck with a nice low action. The electrics are spot on no crackle from the pots or the selector switch.

There is no visible wear to the frets and the neck is straight. It has never been refretted and the fret ends still have their binding. This is a hard one to let go but I just don’t play anymore, so someone should get good use of it.

The guitar is in great condition for a 35 year old guitar. There are no playing issues with this guitar. There are a few light swirls on the back and a some light scratches to the front. I have tried to show these in the photos but you have to turn your head or the guitar into a certain light to notice them, but I just mention this for accuracy.

There is a chip at the top of the neck near the nut where it came into contact with a cymbal and there are some dings down the back of the neck. I have tried to show this in the photos so zoom in or ask questions. However this is only wear and knocks that you would expect to find on a vintage guitar of this age that has been well used.

There is some nice subtle vintage ageing all over the plastics with the white binding turning yellow and the metal hardware nicely tarnished and the factory fitted grovers have taken on a patina and are working fine. It stays in tune for days and is a real vintage looking guitar.

The fantastic top and colour on this guitar is not the only selling point. This is a professional players guitar that and sounds full and rich as only the best 335’s can. This guitar cuts it with every type of music. The original pickups sound great, producing blues and jazz tones with ease. But 335's are not only popular for blues and jazz but also for indie, rock, soul, funk etc.

This is the most versatile guitar I have ever owned. I would say the neck is 60's profile which appears to be the preferred choice of many players. You would have to trawl round a lot of guitar stores to find one as nice as this. The guitar is supplied with an original Gibson case.

Contact me before bidding if you have any more questions and I will answer them the best I can. Also have a good look at the photos as they form part of the description and show you the general condition of the guitar and give you a good visual indication of what you are buying.
