Up for sale, a 2019 History HS-BJ4 Jazz Bass in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Crafted exclusively for the Japanese market at the renowned Fujigen Gakki factory (the same factory that produced Fender Japan's golden age instruments) and only sold at the Shimamura chain of music shops, this History bass is rarely seen outside its country of origin.

A premium iteration of the Jazz Bass platform featuring a nitro lacquer Olympic White gloss finish, USA-made CTS pots, vintage-spec hardware, this History HS-BJ4 was constructed with American pioneer-era old growth “Heritage Wood” salvaged from the bottoms of lakes, offering unmatched integrity and tone. With a select two-piece body, hard maple neck, and slab rosewood fingerboard, this J Bass offers broad thump, articulate upper midrange burp and growl, and a clear treble register. Weighing 9lbs 4oz, this History bass has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-105 roundwound strings, comfortable action, and accurate intonation.

The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges in every register, offering notable heft as you travel up the neck, measuring .815” deep at the 1st fret and .965” at the 12th. The thick slab fretboard has dot inlay and flawless medium jumbo fretwire, and the bass plays well in all registers up the straight neck, reinforced with titanium for exceptional stability. The scale length is a full 34”, and the stock bone nut has a traditional slender and easily navigable 1 1/2" Jazz Bass width. The headstock face features a History script logo, and the nickel tuning machines with clover buttons turn smoothly and hold pitch well.

On the body, the electronics function as intended, with dedicated Volume controls for each pickup, and a Master Tone control. The harness features USA-made CTS pots and a Sprague Orange Drop tone cap. The bridge is a top loader design complete with vintage-spec spiral saddles, and the chrome-plating on the hardware has ample shine. The clear protective factory film is also still intact over the brown tortoise pickguard. The Olympic White gloss nitro lacquer finish shows no aging of the clear coat, with cosmetic wear limited to some light finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss on the lower bout on the back. The ambered gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.
