As a general notice: The base price of a Grez Mendocino has recently increased $125.00
Grez Guitars are hand built in California one at a time by Luthier Barry Grzebik. The Mendocino is a breath of fresh air in the world of hand-built boutique guitars. Grez Guitars are a unique blend of old world craftsmanship and forward thinking sound design.
The idea behind the Mendocino was to build a super light weight and compact highly chambered Semi-Hollow body guitar that sounds like a mix between a full-size semi-hollow body and an archtop. These guitars also have a flat-top like openness, clarity and sustain. This example weighs in at only 5lbs 2oz.
This particular custom Mendocino features a double-bound Black Nitro finished, Reclaimed Old-Growth Redwood body and a beautiful Macassar Ebony fingerboard with a 12" radius and MOP block inlays, as well as Macassar Ebony binding, for a more comfortable playing experience.
This guitar is a joy to hold and play, it is also extraordinarily well balanced. Even unplugged this Custom Mendocino is loud with a complex airy and lively voice. The Novak GT-V Gold-Foil pickups are a treat and are as authentic of a Gold-Foil as they come. Clear, crisp, warm and dynamic. They also take gain extremely well, with overtones and harmonics that just leap off of the fingerboard. Since they are of a relatively low-output these pickups are very quiet for a single coil and completely hum-cancelling in the middle position.
