This is an exceptionally well made and potentially collectable guitar neck.  Hand built by Stephen Carr.  Mr. Carr was a New York based luthier who learned his trade from notable New York luthiers such as Herk Favilla and Jimmy D'Aquisto.  Steve Carr is famous for building guitars for rock bands in the 80s.  Some iconic instruments were built for KISS during that time including the Gene Simmons AXE Bass and Ace Frehley's UFO guitar.  Several other instruments were built for KISS during this period.  Gene, Paul and Ace used them as their main stage guitars.  Steve Carr died in 2006.

The neck is made in the the style of a Stratocaster and constructed of  highly figured flame maple with a thick ebony fingerboard.  It is a beautiful piece of wood that has been hand shaped by a master guitar builder.  It has heel truss rod adjustment and a 25 1/2" scale with 22 jumbo frets.  The fingerboard has recently been planed, re-radiused to 10'' and re-fretted using the original fret wire.  A bone nut was installed and has been marked but not slotted.  A locking nut may have been used originally.  The headstock has holes where a string retaining bar had been installed.  

It should be noted that the neck heel is slightly wider than a Fender neck and the neck pocket of the guitar body may have to be altered in order to mount it.  The dimensions are 1 5/8" at the nut, 2 1/4" at the heel and 7/8" deep. I did not mount this neck to a body because any alterations I may have made in the process would not only have altered the original/collectable condition of the neck but also interfered with your ability to make any necessary adjustments to mount the neck.  It is therefore being sold as is.
