A classic Martin D-28. 1969 and 1970 were transitional years for Martin and some of these 1970 models used the last pieces of Brazilian Rosewood that Martin had. Due the embargo on lumber imposed by Brazil, Martin switched over to East Indian Rosewood in 1970. Based on the figuring and reddish color of the rosewood in this D-28, we believe this guitar has Brazilian rosewood construction. As such, this guitar is only available for sale to buyers in the United States due to CITES. “In order to export a guitar made with Brazilian rosewood, the C. F. Martin & Co. must first have a “General Permit” from the U. S. Department of Agriculture, and secondly we must have a “Pre-Convention Certificate” documenting that the Brazilian rosewood was harvested before June 11, 1992.” As we do not have that certificate, only USA buyers will be accepted. More information about Martin and Brazilian Rosewood can be found here. Serial Number is 267943, see photo. This 1970 Martin D-28 includes the original hardshell case. Please contact us with any questions you may have about this instrument. We have attempted to illustrate the condition of this D-28 as best we can, but it does show signs of its age, include cold checking in the finish that is visible in certain reflections. Thanks for looking!
