Up for sale is a rare 1968 Electrodyne ACC-1204 Recording Console with 20 inputs, 2 busses, and 18 direct outs. These early Electrodyne desks were used on countless records in the late 1960's - including those made at Capitol Records which used a custom Electrodyne with 709L modules for 8 track mix downs in the Capitol remix room from 1968 to 1972.  Electrodyne consoles were used heavily in the LA area in the late 60's by Frank Sinatra (who owned an ACC-1204), The Beach Boys, Frank Zappa, and countless others. Although Neve and API desks are those with the most name recognition - most of the late 1960's hits in the US were actually cut on early Electrodyne, Quad Eight, Langevin and UA consoles. These early Electrodyne desks are about as rare as you can get and the Capitol Records console with 709L input modules just sold from a well known broker for $100K. Adjusted for inflation a new Electrodyne ACC1204 was over $100K in the 1970's - so here's as close as you can get to a newly built Electrodyne desk for just a fraction of what they cost when new. In my opinion the new API 1608 desks (around this price point) use cheap non-USA made components, cheap switches/faders, and will not appreciate in value like a vintage desk. The excellent Electrodyne 709L modules use the same frequency curves for the inductor EQ section as the passive Langevin 251A/Altec 9061a, and the same high quality Richenbach made mic input transformers that were found in almost all of the Electrodyne/Quad Eight consoles in the 1960's and 1970's.

This ACC-1204 has been rebuilt from the ground up with over 200 hours of wiring and labor to bring this console back to like-new condition. The console features:

16 - 1968 Electrodyne 709L Mic/Line EQ modules with high quality Altec wirewound attenuators
2 - 1970 Electrodyne 311L Mic/Line input modules with high quality Altec wirewound attenuators
18 - NOS Electrodyne SM-3 buss assign modules
3 - Electrodyne LA602 program amplifiers (Buss 1 Out, Buss 2 Out, Mono Out)
3 - Electrodyne discrete/repairable ACN3P Summing Amplifiers newly built with 1% Dale/Vishay metal film resistors, low noise transistors, original 1970's NOS Electrodyne PCB's and Jensen JE-123-S output step-up transformers. These newly built Electrodyne summing amps test out excellent as far as noise/frequency response and are very closely matched for gain (within .01 dbm).
18 - Unbalanced Direct outs pre-wired to a custom DB25 with +18dbm capability.
2 - Echo returns
1 - Echo Out

-20 channels on mixdown (18 input modules plus 2 echo returns).
-All modules have been professionally recapped, repaired where necessary and fully tested with Audio Precision test equipment for S/N ratio, frequency response and THD.
-All new gold plated module connectors mounted on rigid aluminum frames and new silver plated teflon wiring used throughout the console.
-Two new Acopian 24V linear regulated power supplies for the modules and lamps.

-All inputs and outputs terminated to 8 standard DB25 connectors on the back panel. The DB25 connectors are as follows:

#1 PSU (+24VDC audio, +24VDC lamps, Audio Ground, Chassis Ground)
#2 Line In 1-8
#3 Line In 9-16
#4 Mic In 1-8
#5 Mic In 9-16
#6 Line In 17/18, Mic In 17/18, Echo Return 1/2
#7 Buss Out L/R/Mono, Echo Out, Control Room L/R
#8 Direct Outs 1-16

This ACC-1204 has been set up with 2 busses for your stereo mix and the third buss switch assigns the channel to its respective direct output. There is one echo send and two echo returns that feed into the stereo buss via the master panel. The "Monitor Trim" and "Monitor Echo Return" features in the master section are currently not implemented.  The master section has studio and monitor level controls which are both controlled by excellent Langevin attenuators. Both the Stereo and Mono master faders are high quality wirewound Altec attenuators - and the stereo Altec attenuator is NOS (straight out of the original box).

Custom requests can be accommodated - feel free to let me know if you need anything implemented that is not listed above. If you need balanced +30dbm direct outs using original Electrodyne output amplifiers and original Electrodyne output transformers those can be installed on request. The glass is missing in one of the VU meters, but everything else on the console is in excellent cosmetic condition. Included with the desk is a large lot of spare Electrodyne parts, panels, switches, and several A1000 opamps (spares for the 709L input modules).
