It was somewhere in 1951 hat this New Yorker left the Gretsch factory in Brooklyn, New York. The Gretsch New Yorker was originally produced as the basic model of Gretsch, but it soon became a very popular model. We fully understand why!

This vintage Gretsch has a laminated maple back and sides with a spruce top. The 2-piece maple neck has a rosewood fretboard with dot inlays. Furthermore, the tuners have been upgraded with vintage Kluson Double Line tuners and the pickguard and bridge have also been replaced.

A common problem on vintage Gretsch guitars is crumbling of the celluloid binding. This was also the case with this New Yorker. Therefore one of the previous owners decided to completely replace the binding. The Gretsch also had a neck reset.

This Gretsch has been set up and it plays like butter. The New Yorker has a big projection and a nice low action.

The New Yorker comes with a gig bag.
