Andre Instruments -Maya no.3.2 (w/DEMO) -2017-2018

Sounds incredible! Demos on soundcloud! (played by a left-handed luthier....I fret with my thumb, while the instrument lays flat on the padded workbench. Nothing fancy, but should give you an idea of its tonal range. DR Phosphor bronze strings used in the demo).

1-Cutaway side -tweeter- cut with swift access to upper register.
2-Wider hardwood tailblock for a -square- pulsating soundboard. 
3-Additional arm-rest bevel.
4-Ebony bridge plate: this gets the -x- brace pumping a little more, coupling with it, and also evens out the response from each string. This plate acts as an EQ, and works really well. You can swap the bridge if you ever need to, it has in -line standard 5 hole pattern.
5-Pickup closer to strings, with domed cover in recon stone material, Pipestone color.
6- Finish: Oiled neck so smooth ;  )  Body with dark oxydizing process, giving a transparent grey/black/copper color better seen in person. 
7 -Thumb rest, polished ebony...This piece was made higher, is hollow in part, and relieved from the top on lower 1/3 rd near the bridge(You can see a cork padding element underneath). Very comfortable unit to play.

The instrument sounds really full, down to the low -E, in each and every single note. When using PH bronze strings (DR) the Maya 3.2 sounds a lot like a piano, with pretty gnarly sustain too.
When using Labella or Daddario -nylon tapewound- strings, then, it is a complete different animal; it gets mellow, very smooth, with a thump-y feel.

-This acoustic bass is as much a piece of art as it is an instrument. It’s the third in a series made by the Quebec–based luthier of Andre’s Instruments. The instrument features an Alaskan yellow cedar top plate with an adirondack spruce, padauk, and carbon fiber bracing blend. It features an ebony fretboard, a Canadian roasted rock maple neck in its natural color, and a medium output Dimarzio DP–145 Will Power pickup.-

Materials

​Alaska yellow cedar top plate (oxydized color). Adirondack spruce, padauk, and carbon fiber bracing blend. 

Hard solid Sitka spruce back/2 ply laminated sides (oxydized color). Laminated hornbeam neck  support -wings- (transfers neck-pull stress to the laminated sides, visible through soundport, upper bout).

Macassar ebony fingerboard w/aluminum side blocks and top block markers. 

Neck materials: Torrefied hard rock maple (natural color) and carbon fiber rods.  

Now set-up (last pictures, outside views, at Woodstock's luthier Showcase) with a solid brass Hipshot -Kickass- bridge in chrome finish, being also fully adjustable, and with smooth feeling Labella white tapewounds strings.

This combination gives an -upright bass- tone to the Maya 3. Coming back now from the Woodstock Invitational Luthier Showcase (10/26/2017) where the players comments on the bass where fantastic. The new bridge/strings combo now refines the bass guitar with its own true voice, and it showed last weekend.-

Hipshot elephant ear Ultra-lite bass tuners in aluminum/chrome

Fully shielded control box, Volume/Tone control- cts pot w/metal dome knobs in dark blue. Sealed output jack, orange drop tone capacitor. 

Pickup: Dimarzio DP-145 Will Power, medium-high output w/pipestone cover. 

Body featuring oxidative process with salts of iron. Satin sheen, epoxy/copal/tung oil rubbed-in varnish, in natural deep grey/copper translucent.
