Here is a 1975 F-212 XL (serial number: 120683) from the prime of the Westerly, Rhode Island years. If you like the sound of a jumbo, then this is the guitar for you. The projection and tonal warmth of this 12-string mahogany classic helped to build the 12 string guitar reputation of Guild. This axe is definitely a banjo killer.
Built with a solid Spruce top, and solid mahogany back and sides. Both the bridge and fret board are ebony. The frets are in excellent condition. Width at nut is 1 13/16". Number of frets: 20. Lower bout width: 17". Depth at lower bout: 5". Scale length: 25 5/8". Electronics: none. There is a double truss rod, and nitrocellulose lacquer, high gloss finish. I have just installed new Guild L-1250 Phosphor Bronze, standard tension strings (.010 -- .047). Another pack of these strings will be in the case.
The guitar is in very good condition, having had the neck reset and the bridge re-glued (see photos). Both are stable and will give years of service.
There is a sealed and cleated crack at the top, near the pick guard, repaired by my luthier (see photo). There is a small surface crack on the left side of the top, but doesn't show in the photo. My luthier reported that crack didn't take any glue, a sign that it is stable. There are several dings on the top (see photos). I've added three more photos showing the back. The guitar has had a professional set up, and has no outstanding issues. A TKL hard shell case in excellent condition is included.
I have five Guilds. The only reason I'm selling this one is to fund new gear. The video is of a Westerly built F-212XL that had been offered (now sold) by a guitar shop in Holland called Fellowship of Acoustics. It gives a faithful example of how the F-212XL's voicing sounds.
