Vintage Magnasync Tube preamp

This unit has all new cap's, tube's, and has been converted to a two pin hot power cord. There are more picture's on the way!

I have two of these. Arthur Sloatman from Midget Electronics ended up doing the final work on both units. The original plan was get the them matched up as close as possible. What he discovered, (and Arthur feel free to correct me if I get this wrong), the units weren't quite the same design meaning a stereo match was not possible.

To add another wrinkle he explained to me that the low and high output were out of phase with each other, probably having something to do with the dialog recorder that it originally fed. We decided to wire one of the units to be in phase at the high setting and one in phase at the low setting.

I'm selling the unit that was wired to be in phase at the low setting. On both units the low setting goes through an extra tube stage and there are multiple tubes in each stage.

So on this box the default low setting is more colored. You can still use the high setting, just flip the phase on your DAW or something in your chain. There's also a dialog eq that you can engage in the back. (high pass with a bump somewhere in the speaking range)

The sound is special. A vocal direct with a sm58 sounds like old jazz. A Mesanovic ribbon in a room with an acoustic guitar sounds indie. That's the best way I can put it.
