About This Listing

Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting…

A really cool Custom Danelectro like build, made right here in Des Moines Iowa. My good friend Ian Williams who is a much respected Guitar Tech and builder for the BiLT guitar brand, has come up with the Danelectro design we all wish had been available in the 1960’s. It’s a Deptone V Baritone in Shiny Black! Check those pics!!

This guitar is now called Deptone as the Neptone brand is not affiliated with this guitar. So sorry for any infringments.

Be sure to check out the video demo for this cool Baritone featured in one of my newest records, White Horses. Lawman Mike

The color is very retro...Cool Masonite top and backs, just like the Danelectro originals!  Sounds awesome.

I was blown away when I found out Ian was building these guitars. He built a brown Masonite V that looks just like the single pickup U-1 Danelectro and Silvertone models we all grew up with. When I saw this Baritone beauty, I knew I had to share it with one of my customers. Get in line!!

Here’s when Ian had to say about his much loved built guitars…

My name is Ian Williams, I’m a full time guitar tech and builder located in Des Moines, Iowa.

I’m a huge Danelectro fan and wanted to do everything I could to build a guitar that could be a long-forgotten Danelectro design, plucked straight out of the 1950s. This guitar is built with all the things that make Danelectro guitars unique! The bodies are Masonite over a birch frame and are largely hollow, with an added center spine to keep the tops from caving as many old Danos have. These pickups are New Old Stock 90s Danelectro reissue pickups, modified to provide humbucking operation while running together and then wired in series to get you that classic fat Dano "middle position" sound. Coupled with a real Danelectro bridge with a movable rosewood saddle, 1 Meg volume and 100k tone pots, some with classic stacked Dano knobs and some with a more simple master volume and tone. Hand cut aluminum nut. And, you can’t forget the iconic white binding tape and “seal” pickguard. It's all there!

These necks are genuine Danelectro necks that were sent to me before they were finished. I gave them a 9.5” radius and highly polished frets, similar in size to those found on a new Fender guitar. All necks have a satin hand-rubbed finish that feel great and will only feel more broken-in and natural over time. The dual action truss rod is accessible at the heel of the neck. Bodies are finished in polyurethane. These are hand made guitars, with no help from a CNC machine.

Specs:

Neck Scale Length: Guitars - 25” … Baritone and Bass - 30”

Body - Hollow Danelectro-style construction

Pickups – New Old Stock 90’s reissue Danelectro, wired in series with humbucking center    position, 3.6k output

Bridge - Danelectro bridge with rosewood saddle

Nut - Hand cut aluminum nut

Pentometers - Traditional Danelectro potentiometer values

Knobs - Stacked Danelectro knobs (some models)

Neck - Genuine Danelectro neck with custom radius, frets, and finish.

Neptone Wood Raised logo Headstock plates complete the custom build to give it that Classic Look! Not affiliated with Neptone Pickups. Sorry for the confusion.

Ian has these professionally set up with new Baritone strings and adjusted it for excellent playing action. No sore fingers with this one. The Lipstick pickups sound awesome. Plenty of tone in these pickups. The baritone has a 30 inch scale length like the bass does. We have it properly tuned now from B to B.. they are not tuned like a 6 string bass or a six string guitar. Plays the same. Just tuned differently.  2 1/2 steps lower. They are cool and fun to play! Remember the Spaghetti Western Guitar sounds. Baritones!!!

This guitar is really fun to play and reminds me of the 1960’s guitars we all lusted after in the Sears Catalogs…I always wanted one when I was 11 but am making up for lost time now!

Hard to find a V shaped Baritone Hard Case. We are shipping it in the shown new Gigbag. Check those pics!

This guitar outfit is really cool but sold as is no returns. However, I have been hand picking my customers instruments for them for over 20 years now and they all loved the guitars I found them. This cool Neptone will certainly not be an exception.

Thanks for checking out our cool guitars, parts and gear.
