About This Listing

LImited Edition Custom Shop Fat 50's Stratocaster

This beauty of a Strat showcases the very best of what the 1950's had to offer, with the compelling addition of several special features and a beautiful custom color. It's a Super Faded Aged Seafoam Green - always a vibrant color that evokes memories of 50's car culture and beach vibes, it will stand out on any stage.  The "Super Faded" aspect tames it down a bit, and the "Aged" aspect softens the brightness, creating a cool, vintage feel.

We chose the Relic finish package, to add to the vintage look and feel.  Creating the authentic worn-in wear of a guitar that has experienced many years of use is not easy to achieve, but the masterfully skilled team at the Custom Shop nailed it.  We've had a lot of Relic's here over the years, and they just seem to be getting better and better.  This one in particular really stands out as a great example of their work.  We also requested for the finish to be worn off of the back of the neck, to give it a true "broken in" feel.  We tend to do this on most of our Custom Shop builds, and have found that players absolutely love it.

The two-piece select alder body features deep body contours for perfect comfort, and “dirty” finish checking—a finely detailed feature that normally takes years to achieve naturally but is conjured by the magicians in the Custom Shop relic department in far less time.  The one-piece rift-sawn maple neck sports a ’54 soft “V” profile, 9.5”-radius fingerboard and 21 jumbo (6100) frets.  Hand-wound Fat ’50s pickups (with reverse-wound/reverse-polarity middle pickup) produce fatter ’50s-style tone, with five-way switching and Fat ’50s wiring that produces stronger tone and more transparent bloom.

As you can see, this Custom Shop Strat is not "year specific", but rather a collection of some of the best aspects of the 50's era, with the modern feel of a flatter radius and bigger frets.  There's a lot going on with this one, and for anyone that's a fan of 50's Strats and Relic finishes, this is an absolute score.

Other features include an 11-hole parchment pickguard, Custom Shop vintage-style synchronized tremolo, vintage-style tuning machines, bone nut, and single wing string tree. Also includes a period correct tweed deluxe hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity.
