About This Listing

I happen to have a COMPLETE collection of all (4) of the US sourced (made right outside Chattanooga, TN), Bruce Bennett hand-made, John Backlund Design guitars. This is the JBD 200 and it might be the most common, if that's possible for the JBD Designs. It is still pretty dang rare - I read somewhere that there are less than 40 JBD 200's! This particular guitar happens to be the one that started this ensemble for me.  An interesting story as to how I came across these, but I'll spare you those details for another day....

I've had this guitar for several years, but I am not the first owner. I described it as 'excellent', cuz it is.  It has not left my smoke-free, humidity and temperature controlled home studio since I got it.  The guitar is in played, but well taken care of condition. No rash or (other) dings that I could see. Frets are almost new, everything works like it's supposed to.  It's ready to go!

This guitar surprised me by just how well it plays.  I'd never seen the Lace pickups or the unusual bridge design this one sports before, but the sum of its parts makes for a compelling player.  Plus all Korina!  This one is a sleeper for sure!

I can't speak to the Eastwood Korean-made versions of the Backlund designs, I'm sure they're fine, but I've never played one and they are intentionally "cost conscious". I CAN speak to the quality of the materials, components, and build of the grand experiment that took place about a decade ago. These Bennett made-in-Chattanooga pieces are top notch, no shortcut, very rare pieces and will surprise you with their playability and attention to detail. I can only imagine the challenges that had to be overcome to make some of these ground-breaking designs. The neck joints on the JBD 100 and JBD 400 alone must have made for some sleepless nights!  Ever seen a aluminum pickguard that doubles as the string holder?  Now you have....see the pics.

Additional Spec's as I know them:
Neck Wood: Korina
Fretboard Wood: Rosewood
Fretboard Radius: 12"
Body Wood: Korina
Scale Length: 24.75"
Tuners: Hipshot Locking
PIckups: Lace Alumnitone
Switchcraft Input Jack
Bridge: Hipshot (don't know what they call it...)
Nickel Barrel Knobs
Built in Tuner! (That's the reason for the battery box - these are not active pups)
Mother of Pearl Inlays
All U.S. Electronics
OHSC also in excellent condition. Snakeskin of course!
I'll also include the Schaller strap locks and a nice padded leather strap with the guitar.

This piece is one of the (4) that comprises the complete catalog (pictured) that was made for that short period of time around 2010-2012 or so. I happen to have one example of each and am currently listing all (4) of them, JBD 100, JBD 200 (this one), JBD 400, and JBD 800, as part of my current "herd-thinning" effort. If you are a collector interested in the full JBD, US-made portfolio, I'd be happy to discuss a "catalog discount"! Look for the other listings...
Note:  4/15/22 update - the JBD-400 is now sold!

JBD-800 is also now SOLD!

JBD-100 also now SOLD! (this is the last of the Mohicans...)
