About this listing
Up for sale is a classic piece of Fender Japan history: a 1985 Fender Jazz Bass Special in sleek gloss black, featuring the highly sought-after slanted pickup configuration. Made during the legendary mid-80s MIJ "Boxer Series" era at the FujiGen factory (Serial: E543188), these basses are famous for their killer tone, incredible build quality, and high-profile players like Duff McKagan. This model combines a comfortable, lightweight P-Bass style body with an incredibly fast, narrow Jazz-profile neck. The angled/slanted split-coil P pickup tightens up the low end, while the J bridge pickup adds that classic bite and definition.Condition & Wear:This bass has been played and loved, carrying genuine vintage mojo. It is in Good/Very Good structural and functional condition, but does show cosmetic wear from its 40+ year history:Body: There is one large, noticeable finish cut/scratch on the body (see photos). It does not affect the wood or structural integrity.Neck & Headstock: There are a couple of scuffs and minor dings along the back of the neck and headstock edges consistent with normal age and use.Playability: The neck is straight, the frets still have plenty of life, and the electronics function exactly as they should. If you are looking for a pristine closet classic, this isn't it—but if you want an absolute rock-and-roll workhorse with authentic vintage vibe, incredible MIJ Japanese craftsmanship, and undeniable style, this is the one.Comes shipped securely.
