About This Listing

My latest offering for sale is a Chicago made mid-sized acoustic, shows a few battle scars but is in good condition. The only stamp I found on it is a "52" on the female part of the dovetail joint when I removed the neck, I assume this is the year of manufacture but I could be wrong. I found a non-adjustable truss rod in the neck, again this points to the 1950's, the 60's version usually have an adjustable rod and a cover behind the nut.

The 14 fret neck was reset so the action is excellent. At the 12th fret I measure app. 6/64th" to 5/64th bass to treble. The nut width is 1 9/16", outside string width is 1 3/8", string spacing at the saddle is 2 3/16". The scale is long at 25 3/4". Bone nut and saddle are new with the intonation spot on with this setup. The bridge was somewhat damaged but it has been repaired. The screws were left in the bridge for authenticity but it is glued to the soundboard. The guitar plays very well but does have a bit of a beefy neck as most vintage guitars do.

The lower bout is 15 inches(38mm), upper bout 10.75 inches (27.5mm). The body length is 19 inches(48.2mm), the body depth is 4 inches(10.2mm) and tapes towards the neck to 3 5/8 inches(9.2mm).

It was ladder braced when I got it but is now X-braced and sounds like a more expensive guitar. It is strung up with light bronze strings right now but can handle bigger strings. I do not have a case but I've shipped many guitars and I will package this well. I won't bore you with the details so just look at the photos and I'll answer all your questions by phone, text or email. Please email me for my phone # for a hands on description.

PS -The shipping charge quoted is approximate. You will only pay what Canada Post charges me.

If you search the net for a Kay L6253 or K-15 you will see a very similar guitar.
