In a letter from Mark Erlewine included with this guitar:

I hand made this guitar, the 'Ultra' in 1983 while I was working with Billy Squier, developing a new design with him. This 'Ultra' was shipped up to the Power Station recording studio in New York where Billy and his band were recording a new album ('Signs of Life'). It is my understanding that Jeff Golub was using it it the sessions. This is one of three 'Ultra's that I made during that period. One was destroyed in a warehouse fire years ago and I've lost track of the other.
