Fully 60 Hz AC tested and guaranteed vintage tube preamp transformer. AC testing using an oscilloscope allows us to find and reject transformers with noisy outputs, which a simple resistance or continuity test will not reveal. Made in Norway sometime between 1958 and 1965. Weighs 3 lbs 15 oz. 77mm bolt spacing. Available in tan shellac or in sleek black.
This powered a motor and a bunch of tubes. The 25VAC output was rectified to DC (via solid state bridge rectifier) and provided the heater for eight tubes (4 12AX7, 2 12AU7, and 2 12AT7) by putting the heater for pairs of tubes in series at 25V. DC heating was used on signal tubes to reduce hum. The indicator tubes and one other 12AU7 used a direct 6.3VAC tap from the transformer.
115 VAC in (white from core)
outputs:
245 VAC fused at 0.2A (red from core)
25 VAC fused at 2A (yellow from core)
6.3 VAC fused at 2A (blue from core)
The voltages run a bit higher when run at modern AC levels instead of the 115 VAC that was specified in 1965.
