I got this in trade for a boutique telecaster. He told me he’d owned it twice over the years and had bought it back. He said he had it modded to sound more like Twin/Dumble. It’s definitely got more headroom and output tubes then you’d expect from a 40 watt amp. The amp tech I use says that the output measures 43 watts according to his calculations and the wattage is limited by the transformers used. It sounds good even at apartment volumes.
You’ll notice there are more output tubes than you’d expect from a 40 watt amp. That’s why we measured the output. You’ll find it has the clean headroom of a twin yet is much lighter and much quieter.
I either use use this amp both clean and with pedals including the Helix. If you want to use it with a Helix turn off the cab emulations though. It’s quite possibly the tub best pedal platform amp I’ve ever tried.
