This mandolin is in a very good condition. Apart from some scratches
under the strings near the tailpiece (last picture) this Luigi Embergher
Orchestra 2 model in fact is in near mint condition.
Original frets but no fretwear to be seen! The bowl is in a perfect
condition. Not any damage to the head. Some slight varnish wear in
the lower positions but very acceptable (see picture) 28 ribs and
two closing ribs. The tuners are in well working order with not any
visible wear. The neck is still absolutely straight with a nice playing
action. Original bridge. Not any repairs that could have been done
in the past. The label is in great condition and the inner layers
are in immaculate condition. This mandolin holds an extra label on
the inner side that says: "Direzione e Laboratorio in Arpino". I am
not able to tell you what the meaning is of it.
The total (vibrating) string length is 300 mm but what is more reliable is
the distance to the octave fret as the bridge can be replaced.
That distance is 165 mm.
- The nut width is 24,6 mm. It appears to be the original nut and as
can be seen, the mandolin is equipped with a zero fret.
- Action lowest string is 2,4 mm. (Top fret to the string)
The highest string action is 2 mm. But remember what is
more important: The neck is straight with the proper
amount of neck relief and what is even more important:
The hight of the bridge is 15 mm for the lowest strings
and 11 mm for the highest string while the soundboard
is perfectly straight which is an important detail!
Feel free to ask any questions. This is a great instrument for everyone
who is looking for the top of the Italian mandolins and wants to have
his or her playing pleasure for a lifetime on a supreme instrument.
