Fender Squier Duo Sonic Affinity 1997 Black

This is a nice little Duo Sonic, made in China by Squier.  It is black with white plastics and chrome electronics.  This little thing sounds nice for a "student" guitar.  It's in really presentable condition and has nice aging on the plastic parts.

The guitar has a few blemishes from use, especially the body, where the previous owner did some repair work on some significant chips and damage. Nothing that affects the use or really the look of the guitar. The neck is in great condition with little signs of use. An attempt was made to photograph the most obvious spots, which is difficult on a shiny black guitar

The necks on these late 90s Affinity models are 20-fret, 22.7" scale (some say 22.5").  This is shorter than more modern Duo Sonic models, which are 24".  Among short scale guitars, this is about as short as any you will find in the Fender/Squier lineup.  It's really great for kids and people with small hands.  This guitar's maple neck is in good condition and has no dings or wear that stand out.  The frets are in good condition as well, and they do not show any significant play wear.  The tuning keys/machine heads are pretty standard for a Squier Affinity, and they are in good condition.  

The electronics on this guitar function well.  There is no excessive noise.   The switch works, as do all of the pots and the jack.  The strap buttons are tight.

Overall this is a nice little guitar that will make someone a great first guitar, travel guitar, or something to set beside the couch and play when inspiration takes hold.  Thanks for reading.
