ON HOLD Mike P. 2/15/22
No. 3101, includes original Heritage hardshell case. Johnny Smith hand signed the label.
A very rare & so very fine Kalamazoo crafted 32 year old Heritage top of the line archtop in really fine condition. The frets show no wear, there's some minor binding cracks on some of the fingerboard binding. Not bad actually. There are some minor scratches & tiny dings in the top's finish (not much) and a 2" area of buckle rash on the back. That's it. The case has some scuffing. Please see the photos. It's really in excellent overall condition and it plays & sounds superb. We just re-strung her with Chrome flatwounds. The setup is really good.
Specs for this model were carefully selected by Mr. Smith & include:
* 17 inch lower bout width, 3" rim depth
* Neck= 25" scale, 1.75" nut width, 20 medium jumbo frets, Ebony fingerboard w/ 12" radius, fancy 5 piece highly flamed neck- shallow C shape.
* Real Abalone fingerboard block inlays and peghead Rose inlay. Actual Abalone.
* Real Nitrocellulose lacquer finish
* Black hardware. Finger tailpiece, Grover Rotomatic tuners
* Fitted full contact Ebony floating bridge
* F Hole binding, deluxe binding
* All solid "Premium woods" - Flamed Maple back & rims, Sitka Spruce top.
* Label hand signed by Johnny Smith
* Hand bound & lacquered curly Maple pickguard with Humbucking pickup attached to the guard.
These rare Heritage Johnny Smith "The Rose" models with his actual hand signed label will continue to appreciate in value. This one's the best color and in remarkable condition. They're not making 'em anymore and Johnny will NOT be signing any labels. (sadly)
