Vintage and Rare 1940s Kay Patriot Archtop Acoustic Guitar Project, made in Chicago, USA!

Vintage and Rare 1940s Kay Patriot Archtop Acoustic Parlor Guitar Project, made in Chicago, USA. This is a very cool and collectible guitar from the late 40s. It's somewhat playable, but needs some work to be a great player. It's made with all solid woods, so it sounds great and would be worth the restoration efforts. It has the original pickguard, cool red, white and blue fret markers with a very nice set of replacement tuners. The pick guard is cupped a bit and the fretboard shows some player on the first few frets. The body is solid curly maple with a faux flame finish and the top appears to be maple with a spruce grained finish. The Kay style bridge is actually a later Grover replacement and is missing the adjustment wheels. The guitar is playable with action at around 1/8" at 12th fret, but the neck has a moderate bow and would benefit from a neck reset. It sounds great tuned to an open G and plays nice in the first position or with a slide. It has a big fat U shaped neck and the frets are all in nice shape, funny little chunk of wood has replaced the original endpin. There are some seam separations and a major mess of silver paint or JB Weld on the bottom/back seam from previous owner. I haven't done a thing to it and it's being sold as found for restoration, parts or a very cool All-American wall hanger. Please be sure to check out the pics to fully understand it's condition, as this is offered as-is with no returns or refunds. Offered without a case, but we can work something out if you need one. Be sure to check out my other guitars for sale and thanks for looking!

Please read entire description and review all pictures and be sure to ask any questions you may have before bidding or making an offer. I have a great deal of experience packing and shipping guitars, so rest assured that I will get your item to you safely. Most of my guitars are sold without cases, although I usually have a suitable case for most of the guitars I have for sale at an additional cost. I ship worldwide, although some countries require Global Express shipping for larger packages. Please inquire about shipping costs if there is any question about whether I can ship USPS Priority to your country. I expect all buyers to honor their bids or offers and complete payment within 2 days of sale. I buy a lot of guitars and guitar related equipment, but typically don’t do trades unless it’s local. Many of my items are for sale locally as well, so I reserve the right to end this listing at any time.
I specialize in everything from Stellas to Stratocasters, with a primary focus on the Harmony, Kay and various USA catalogue brands from the 30’s through the 60’s. I love talking guitars so your questions and comments are encouraged. I’m fortunate to have many great repeat buyers and look forward to making your vintage guitar buying experience awesome. Thanks for stopping by!
