This vintage 1972 Fender USA left-handed Telecaster guitar retains the original gloss Custom Color Black finish on a solid Ash body, with natural relic wear. Left-handed Custom Color Telecasters from this era are seldom seen and virtually nonexistent, especially with such a one of a kind and very rare high-end Flame Maple neck. The body features a 3-ply Parchment reissue pickguard, ashtray bridge plate with 3 adjustable saddles, vintage Fullerton era pickups (both professionally rewound), '66 dated CTS pots, Cornell Dubilier βCircle Dβ ceramic disc capacitors, 3-way CRL #1452 switch, and Daka Ware switch tip. All of these authentic vintage parts feature their original natural play wear and patina.

The previous owner routed the pickup cavities for two P90s though fortunately the neck routing is fully beneath the pickguard, and there is an area next to the ashtray bridge on both sides with wood filled in (shown in photo). With the ashtray cover on, this filled in area is mostly covered. The finish is in vintage condition with all natural play wear, with plenty of weather checking, finish chips, and a few tiny holes filled in on top. If a Bigsby Vibrato + wider Bigsby bridge were installed, these imperfections would be almost entirely covered.

This guitar features a super rare Flame Maple neck with chunky β52 profile and new desirable jumbo frets. A neck like this is exceptionally rare with gorgeous flaming, new medium jumbo frets, and a fretboard refinished in nitro. The rest of the finish, including headstock and logo, is original. This neck is loaded with original Fender F logo tuners and string retainer guide. This neck features the standard 25.5β Fender scale, with 1 5/8" aged bone nut, 7.25β fretboard radius, 21 medium jumbo frets, and unusual 50s shape chunky C profile with very comfortable .90β at first fret to .93β at twelfth fret thickness. The headstock has a small area of wood repaired by the nut around the high E, and holes from previous Sperzel locking tuners. Fortunately the vintage tuners mostly cover this. There is one small hole on the headstock face filled in from an additional string retainer (though this may be original), and the headstock face has lacquer checking, as well as lacquer lines on the back of headstock and fretboard. Fortunately the neck retains most of its original finish and all tuning keys are straight and in good working condition as well.

The electronics are in great working condition and the guitar is set up with GHS boomers regular lights for great tone. As a bonus, many extras are included. It ships in the very rare late 1960s left-handed black hardshell Fender case with orange interior and all working latches. Bonus extras include vintage 1970s Fender strap, 1960's Fender ashtray cover, vintage black coil guitar cable, and a very rare vintage 1970s Fender Telecaster manual. This vintage case with vintage extras has a value upwards of $2,000.
