Stereophonic sound, or stereo, was an important advance in sound reproduction. Although Audio-Fidelity Records offered a limited edition stereo record for industry use in 1957, consumers needed to wait until 1958 for recordings with stereo sound to become widely available for the home.
This unit is super rare and super clean. This tuner/preamp was absolutely cutting edge and top of the line and would have sold for $269.00 according to what I can find on line. US Inflation Calculator.com suggests this piece would cost you about $2600 to buy new today.
This unit is bone stock and beautiful. All tubes appear to be Pilot branded US made with an Amperex Bugle Boy rectifier.
