Very Rare Explorer copy from Harmony, made in late 70s or early 80s. Rad red trim and hockey stick headstock. Copies a Gibson Explorer but the style is very similar to the Washburn BBR series with the black and red lines.
The H818b has 3 active pickups powered by a 9 volt battery accessible from the back of the guitar. This model is also fitted with a floyd rose style locking tuning system.
Buckle up as I explain the pickup config:
- There is a 5-way, strat style switch.
- Each active humbucker can be coil tapped (making a humbucker into a single coil) using the micro switches next to the volume/tone knobs.
- The magical 4th micro switch (on the bottom) is a BOOST switch
Honestly, Gibson could have taken a few pages out of the Harmony book to make make an Explorer more versatile. It plays well, is in very good shape for its age, with only light smudging in the finish. No major dings, dents, or chips (see pics). And it comes with the original faux leather gig bag (and tremolo arm). Get yourself into a unique vintage-era explorer without breaking the bank. So many tonal possibilities.
It will be professionally packed and insured for safe travel. Let me know if you have any questions.
