Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting...

A cool 1964 Kay Model K5930 Bass Guitar which was only available in 1964 and 1965. They had the same body style in 1966 but the headstock changed. No dating on this one so we are calling it a 1964... It was shown in the 1964 Kay Catalog as the Kay Deluxe Bass!

Be sure to check out the awesome video demo we did for this cool bass!

This guitar has been around the shop a long time. It was quite the project. First of all, you will notice that the frets had been previously removed by another owner. Given the cost, we decided to leave it as a fretless and let the new owner decide if they want to stand the expense of adding frets back. Its a lot of fun to play as a fretless.

The guitar was in terrible shape when we got it. What is original is the body, neck, tuners, knobs, bridge and bridge assembly, and the bridge cover. The cool Kay Speedbump case pickup was dead as a door nail. We had Mojowerks do a complete rewind and it sounds awesome like it should. Check out those tuners. Very high end for a Kay Bass.

The pots were shot so we did a complete new wiring harness. It was beyond help. New Switchcraft pots, cap and input jack. The pickguard was also beyond salvaging. Mojowerks made us a beautiful new pickguard that looks amazingly like the original in looks and we had the old one to match the exact design. Mojowerks also made us an amazing new nut made from a deer antler. Hard as bone and just beautiful. We also tracked down a cool Kay Logo. The original was missing. Looks really good! Check those pics!

The body was also toast. It was black it was so covered in grime. We actually had to sand the ugly yuck off of it to reveal the beautiful original Brownburst finish. I was so happy we didn't have to refinish this beauty. Check those pics.

It does have a working truss rod and we set it up with a new set of light gauge bass strings. The guitar has a short scale neck of 31 inches and the nut measures only 1 1/2 inch. Guitar players like these smaller necks. The guitar has a lower bout dimension of 14 1/2 inches and its 42 inches long in total length. It only weighs 6 lbs 8 ozs. No sore backs with this one.

It didn't come in a case so we paired it up with the shown older Hard Shell Case that fits it just right. All latches, hinges and handle are still with it. Even the accessory box is still there. A really nice case for your cool fretless Kay Bass!

Sold as is no returns. Thanks for respecting that.
