About This Listing

You don't see these every day, a vintage 1970s top of the line Aria Pro II PE-190 Robert Conti Model Jazz Guitar w/floating gold plated Dearmond 1100 pickup, the most desirable vintage floating pickup ever made. The PE-190 is basically the same guitar as the PE-180 but the 180 has 2 built in pickups, I have a PE-180 in similar condition I'm considering selling as well. It's dimension and appointments are similar to a Gibson Super V though w/ a maple top

This guitar is in super clean all original condition save for a nice wooden pickguard w/volume and tone controls that replaced the old deteriorated plastic guard. The tone control gives more variation than the orig single volume configuration. A little finish/binding cracking but only in the cutaway [almost all of these old Arias have this but usually much much worse w/cracking and chipping all over the entire guitar, this one is beautifully preserved] Lovely sunburst finish over the maple body, Gibson style ebony bridge and fingerboard with mother of pearl inlays including beautiful tree of life headstock, gold plated parts including L-5 style tailpiece. There is a factory finish flaw on the back of the neck that is under the clear coat. This is not a repair but a factory flaw in the sunburst that doesn't affect the guitar. The vintage gold Dearmond pickup itself is worth about $1000 (not for sale separately)
It looks, plays and sounds fabulous, like a much more expensive guitar, in fact the original price was comparable to a Gibson L-5 of the era. 17" wide lower bout and 25.5" scale length , 1 11/16" nut width, 3 3/8" depth like an L-5. These old Aria archtops have beautifully consistent great feeling Gibson '59ish neck shapes unlike vintage Gibsons which are all over the place depending on the year/period. Comes w/new TKL case.
Also listed for sale locally.
Inquire about the PE-180 I'm considering selling.
