PRS Artist Package instruments come standard with exceptional tone woods, including an artist grade (flame or quilt) maple top, select mahogany back, ebony headstock veneer with inlaid signature, ebony truss rod cover, and premium Mexican ebony fingerboard. This is the first time outside of the Private Stock program that PRS is offering Mexican ebony, a wood which, once oiled, turns a beautiful, deep chocolate brown. Several unique options are also available, including the choice of PRS’s coveted 57/08, 59/09, or 53/10 pickups (excluding the P22 and 513); gold, nickel, or hybrid hardware; a figured maple or East Indian rosewood neck; and a figured maple (maple neck only) or ebony fretboard. New artist bird inlays (green abalone with green ripple outlines on Mexican ebony and ebony fretboards / green abalone with black lip mother of pearl outlines on maple fretboards), V12 finish, and an artist case are also included.
Named after Ted McCarty, a pioneer of the electric guitar and musical instrument industry, the McCarty model embodies the most up-to-date findings from PRS and looks back to the golden age of the guitar. This vintage-appointed guitar features a bound, 22-fret Pattern neck, a slightly thicker back for enhanced tone and sustain, and 58/15 LT treble and bass pickups, which have now been through the TCI (tuned capacitance and inductance) process. 58/15 LT’s are a vintage style pickup with exceptional clarity and focused midrange. Paired with a push/pull tone control and a 3-way toggle pickup switch, these pickups provide a complete palette of tones. The McCarty model is anchored by a PRS stoptail bridge with brass studs for added resonance and vintage-style tuners.
