Michi Matsuda M1 fanned-fret 7-string, #88. If there's a nicer 7-string acoustic guitar in the entire world, I don't know it!
This was ordered by me sometime around 2009, and I took delivery in 2013, shortly before moving overseas. Unfortunately I've been overseas ever since and currently reside in Tokyo, and this guitar has stayed behind in my family home in New York, only being played when I have the opportunity to visit. I love this guitar but the humidity in my apartment fluctuates between 15% and 100%, and temperatures between 20 and 30C, with no space for dedicated climate controls -- it's just been too risky in my mind to have it out here. I've been hoping things would change over the past several years, but the reality is that for the foreseeable future, I'm not able to have the guitar with me. For that reason I've decided to offer it for sale.
Spec-wise, the most notable aspect is probably the 7-string and fanned fret, and the corresponding headstock. The fanning is from 26.25" on the bass side to 25.25" on the treble. It's a subtle an extremely comfortable fan. The top is Adirondack spruce, which was chosen for the more rigidity for the increased low end of the guitar, and the back and sides are Cocobolo. It has a beautiful natural wood rosette. Like any of Michi's guitars, every join, every corner, ever where you look is a detail, too numerous to count.
In terms of condition, it is basically like new with the exception of the finish sinking slightly into wood grains. It's been in a climate controlled area its entire life so it's just a natural process. The only time it has even left the house is one trip to Ish Guitars in Syracuse for a setup. I will probably coordinate with Ish again to make sure the guitar is ready to ship. Due to the nature of this instrument, if you are interested in purchasing it please contact me first to discuss shipping arrangements. The guitar is located in New York, and for any purchase from Reverb I will have to first set my shop location there.
