About This Listing

This beautiful instrument is the 22nd guitar built by David Schaefer in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

It was built in December of 2018, but hadn't been listed for sale until now (November 2021).

We are selling this guitar as a consignment for Schaefer Guitars directly, so it is a brand new guitar.

As with all of the Schaefer guitars I have played so far, this one has a lot of volume, depth and a full dynamic range.

This one has decent power on the bass end, a fairly full & warm midrange, as well as a nice shimmery treble response that will cut through a mix well but won't get too harsh or tinny sounding.

The lower mids have a nice growl to them when played hard which adds some character to the tone and makes the guitar feel very lively.

Overall the tone is quite balanced across the spectrum so whether you're fingerpicking, strumming or flatpicking, the guitar never feels like it's out of its comfort zone and it never gets too muddy or to thin.

Considering that it's a hand crafted instrument, it is extremely refined with only a few minor areas where it's evident that it was not made by a machine.

This is mostly evident on the inside edge of the bridge where there are some file marks as well as a little glue residue.

There are also a few tiny yet visible gaps in a couple wood joints (one at the bottom of the heel and a few along the binding).

These "blemishes" for lack of a better word are quite minor in comparison to most hand crafted guitars I have played and don't detract from the general look, feel, or aesthetic of the instrument.

Beyond the extreme care and level of craftsmanship present in the guitar, the woods parts and hardware used on the instrument are excellent.

The Port Orford Cedar top combined with the Striped Bloodwood back & sides is a big part of what makes this guitar sing like it does, while the Gotoh tuners, dual action truss rod and bone nut & saddle offer a great setup and stable tuning.

The guitar features modified X-bracing pattern that gives the guitar a very Martinesque projection and more importantly, durability.
