I am looking to trade this Buchla Thunder for another interesting vintage instrument or recording tool.
I've had this one for over a decade. Time to let it go to somebody that will PLAY it.

I just tested it and everything works except button 2, which did not work when I received it years ago. It is no big deal because you do not need that button for anything in particular and you have 24 other programmable buttons that all work great.
All of the programming buttons (along the top starting with "escape" and ending with "enter") work OK so programming is no problem. The Thunder Data slider works as well as it ever did, but please know that the Thunder was a very early programmable touch sensing midi controller. Buchla was, as always, way ahead of the times and as such not everything works seamlessly as the programmable controllers we have today.
It has a custom rackmounted power supply which I was told improved upon the original. I've only ever used this one unit so I cannot comment if it does.

I'm only looking to trade.

The Buchla Thunder is a programmable tactile control surface that interfaces synthesizers via MIDI.

Developed by electronic instrument designer Don Buchla in 1989, Thunder is a musical instrument controller with an array touch sensitive keys. Keys 1 to 9 respond to pressure and keys 10 to 25, with the feather graphic respond to both pressure AND location. Thunder's software — known as “STORM” — allows assignment of any key's touch, pressure, and/or location to any MIDI controller number or note number on any MIDI channel. Keys can also be assigned to start and stop “Riffs" that might be programmed as part of the preset. (“Riffs" precede and are similar to “clips” in Ableton Live.)
