About This Listing

Though I usually sell stringed instruments, I recently acquired this fine old Coronet. It was made by the J W York & Sons Co. of Grand Rapids, Michigan circa 1915. The serial number is 42967. I have a friend who is a professional brass and woodwinds repairman who did some work on it. He pulled, cleaned and lubed all the slides. Replaced the valve felts(top cap) as well as the finger button felts.

The watering corks were ok as is. There are some dents in the main pipe leading up to the bell, but beyond that there are very few dings or dents. The engraving on the bell is in pristine condition. It is now in good playing condition.

It is in quite remarkable condition when you consider that it is over one hundred years old!

It comes with its original case which is also in good shape.

The mouthpiece is probably not original to the instrument. It is an "All Star" brand but is in good condition as well. It comes with some extra slides and a small music stand that attaches to the horn.

Though not a horn player, what stands out to me is just how solidly built this instrument is and how good it feels in your hand. A real testament to the quality, pride and craftsmanship of the folks that made it!

Thanks for visiting my shop!
