About This Listing

2009 Sexauer FT-15 anyone?

At around 10.9 guitars a year, it s safe to say that Bruce Sexauer takes his time when building guitars. Each one is unique as he tends to shy away from jigs and too many preordained processes in a bid to improve on his craft with each instrument. Here is an example from 2009, the first (according to his website) wth a new improved pickguard design.

The craftsmanship here is undeniable, done in such a way that each time you look at the guitar there’s a new feature that reveals itself. The attention to detail is faultless, the binding providing just the right amount of ornamentation.

Back and sides are Australian Blackwood (a special order wood that carries a $600 up-charge) with the top being of Italian Spruce. This is all sown together with a combination of Snakewood and maple binding. There are the odd sign of use as the previous owner was a working musician.

The guitar does have an end pin jack fitted along with and under saddle piezo pickup that is currently decommissioned though a new one can be fitted with minimal additional work.

Australian Blackwood has similar properties to Walnut and is used in musical instrument building in more recent years as a substitute for Koa.

The ebony fretboard and original frets are in excellent condition atop a mahogany neck that is free of any wear or tear.

This guitar comes with a hardshell case

This guitar has a wonderfully balanced tone, ringing bell-like under your fingers. the FT-15 lends itself so well to either fingerpicking or strumming, the string spacing perfect for either. Its lightweight means you hardly know its there. A truly phenomenal instrument.

This is a must have for anyone searching for an exquisite luthier made instrument.
