Up for sale, a 1978 Greco GOW-1500 double neck guitar in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Made concurrently with the Ibanez Musician guitars at Japan's famed Fujigen factory, this Greco is an impressive and expertly crafted instrument. With a solid sen ash body, maple necks, bound rosewood fretboards, and stock quartet of Maxon-made humbuckers, the GOW-1500 offers a vast control set with an impressive spectrum of sonic options.

The guitar delivers the articulation of maple, with the midrange heft and authoritative note attack of ash, qualities which translate well through the original Maxon PU-2 humbuckers. Featuring Alnico V magnets and wax potting for optimal feedback rejection, these pickups are wound just under 8k ohms with great harmonic complexity, a snappy top end, ample bass, and a well balanced midrange. The 12 string side produces a shimmery chime, while the six string offers a bold clarity, both excelling at defined cleans and saturated crunch. And with individual “Tri-sound” three-way mini toggle switches for each pickup, the two coils of each humbucker can be combined in series or parallel, with an additional coil tapping option for unrivaled versatility. Weighing 13lbs 7oz, this double neck Greco has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with fresh D'addario strings, dialed in for slinky action and optimal intonation.

Both maple necks have medium C shaped profile carves with modest shoulder. The 12 string neck profile measures .845" deep at the 1st fret and .910" at the 12th, while the 6 string neck measures a slightly thicker .865" at the 1st fret and .925” at the 12th. Both necks feature bound rosewood fretboards with fret edge binding and pristine stock medium jumbo fretwire. The scales are 24 3/4“ in length, the carved bone nuts measure 1 11/16" in width, and the headstocks are fitted with original gold Greco MG901 tuning machines that hold their pitch well and turn very smoothly. The serial number on the back of the 6 string headstock has a H78-prefix, translating to August of 1978

All of the electronics work as intended, with original full-size Japanese pots in the wiring harness and clean Maxon six-digit stamps on the PU-2 embossed pickup baseplates which date to '78. Controls include a three-way toggle switch for neck selection and a Master Volume control. Each neck features a three-way pickup selector switch, Volume and Tone controls, and individual three-way mini “Tri-sound” toggles for each pickup. The gold-plated hardware includes a pair of bridges which anchor into solid metal blocks inset in the body, and the gold plating on the bridges and tailpieces shows uniform surface patina. Plastics include original pickup rings and switch tips, alongside a clean quintet of replacement gold speed knobs. The ruddy gloss Walnut finish highlights the dynamic grain patterns of the ash body, and cosmetic wear is limited to light scuffing in the pick path, and light marks and scuffs mostly relegated to the perimeter and back of the body. The necks both sport smooth gloss finishes.

The original hardshell case is included with a green form-fit plush interior, brown exterior, functional latches, and original handle.
