Zerberus Crow Bass

Frank Scheucher, founder of Zerberus guitars, is simultaneously one of the nicest, most perfectionist, and most creative luthiers we know. 

This bass qualifies as a custom, but a very special one, custom for Frank himself. He built this as a work of art to stretch the height of his ability and spread his creative wings. He built it entirely by hand (as in no CNC, cut and shaped by hand, with love). It has been a featured show piece at NAMM and also featured Bass Quarterly Magazine. 

It is a beauty to behold, but more importantly, it feels like perfection in your hands and has a rich, well-rounded tone with sustain for days. It's balanced and your hands just move along it like wind. We've included a detail of the neck joint for those of you that like to range up high. You'll be spoiled forever once you roll your digits up toward the pickups.

It's a challenge to avoid hyperbole when discussing Frank's instruments, but we must say that it's unlikely that there will ever be another Crow. It took Frank more than a year to build this masterpiece, and he's very focused now on his Gorgonized, stone-faced guitars. (See our other Zerberus listings.)

- The body is made of two pieces of Padauk from an African Coral tree. 
- The neck is 5 pieces of American flamed Red Oak, Purple Heart and German Oak
- The fretboard is made of Pao Ferro Santos Palisander
- The side dots on the neck are illuminated red, blue or off with a switch on the back plate
- The scale is 31.7 inches and is set and glued into the body
- The frets are mixed, 1-12 are 2.8mm, and 13-24 are 2.3mm for more space in the high frets
- Sperzel locking tuners on one end, individual bridges on the other
- Pickups are by Harry Haussel and the control pots are Glockenklang
- Frank made the knobs himself and filled the caps with Padauk
- The wiring is two bands switchable active or passive
- The width of the fretboard at the nut is 1.5 "
- The width acrpss the center of the strings at the bridge is 2 and 1/16 "

It comes with a super sturdy Harley Benton metal flight case with folding latches, a tube wrapped spring handle and foam cut to fit the Crow exactly. The flight case has a couple of knicks and some scratches, but is in very good condition.
