Here is a rare piece of kit. This is a Shelby acoustic guitar made by Slingerland in Shelbyville, TN in 1965 (date is written in the sound hole). These may have been JW Gallagher's first foray into acoustic guitar making. He was there helping to produce these fine guitars.
This guitar is a fine player's grade instrument with nicks, bumps and bruises. The sound is phenomenal... exactly what you would expect from a slightly smaller than dreadnought (perhaps grand auditorium although I doubt they had the nomenclature at the time) guitar. The highs and mids have a phenomenal airy tone and lows are a bit muted due to the size. Tuners work well and keep the guitar in tune. The saddle was replaced recently and this guitar's pickguard is starting to peel off. I left it for the moment because it has not moved in a few years, but you may want to take it off and restick. The truss rod works as it should. There is a crack in the bridge and both it and the saddle are usable but you may want to replace down the road.
