About This Listing
This is a Washburn Monterey prototype that was owned by and extensively performed with by John Hiatt at height of his popularity on the Bring The Family and Slow Turning tours. He played it on Letterman and many of the biggest venues in the world. You can find tons of video on YouTube of him playing the guitar in big shows. You can make an argument that along with his Silvertone 1446, this is his most identifiable guitar that is most associated with John. And I'll tell you why.... IT'S AMAZING! The neck is so skinny, it could walk runways. It's light, but sturdy.... it sounds incredible and probably one of the easiest guitars to play I've ever held in my hand.
Reverb doesn't allow us to post pics, but I can get anyone pics of him the "Inside Job" cover and all sorts of live shots with the guitar including on Letterman.
When we got it, it was absolutely beat to hell. There was one major crack that was repaired. There was a small headstock ding that was repaired. The block was separated and so were some braces. There are a few other odds and ends that I tried to get in the pics. One small one near the cutaway. We spent a fortune with the best luthier in town and it is now an absolute angelic guitar.
You can get lost peering into the flame buried in the top and back.... it is so stunning. It has a beautiful 3 stripe piping around the top and 7 stripe around the sound hole. I believe rosewood back and sides, a cedar top and mahogany neck. Even the bridge has individual saddles. This is a piece of Americana rock history.
It comes with its original case. No returns whatsoever unless the description is wildly different than what arrives. And then there is a 40% restocking fee.
