Ovation 1231-4 1970 Natural

Here we have a beautiful Ovation 1231-4 hollowbody electric guitar.

The Storm Series by Ovation was meant to compete with the best semi and hollowbody guitars of the day so it is a very good quality vintage USA guitar. These are not easy to come by, especially in this condition. I would called it excellent vintage condition for a guitar of its age but will list it as Very Good by Reverb's guidelines. Most of these Ovation Storm Series guitars are heavily checked. This one only has minor checking which I pointed out in a couple of pictures. You can expect this type of checking here and there but not more and it looks cool. Only ONE ding on the entire guitar! (pictured)

This particular example is great looking, has the natural finish, which is natural/amber in person, a very nice spruce top and figured maple back. Ebony board. The all important not chipped headstock! Pictures #4 onward were taken today.

I love the way this guitar sounds. These pickups (the best of the Storm Series, in my opinion) are remarkable. I can get a surprisingly heavy sound from them, the bridge can rock and the neck is smoky in rock/blues sort of way when pushed.

It has excellent action, super easy to play, and really fun. It only has slight fret wear in the typical area of the first four frets or so. This is an affordable way to get into the vintage guitar world. I have mixed feelings about selling this guitar. It's the best one I've found after a long and serious search.

Come with an after market SBA case in excellent condition.
