This recorder powers up and makes noise. It does not look like there was corrosion, if there is it would be minor. Uses a 9v battery which is not included.
The instructions say that without a cassette the recorder makes a high pitch noise and it does. The reels or spindles do turn. I just can't get the tape to play. So it is getting some sort of power.
The cassette shown is included. I do not know if there is a recording on it. The body looks really good, very little wear.
