A stunning Cedar-topped guitar with a sweet and romantic tone. Deep, cello-like basses and rounded trebles.

Very responsive with great dynamic range, excellent volume and sustain.

This beautiful guitar was built by luthier Hiroumi Yamaguchi who was an associate of the founder of ASTURIAS guitars Masaru Matano. This Cervantes guitar is identical in appearance to the majority of Matano Classe 500 and 600 guitars built between 1974 and 1978, like the Matano guitars it is also built on the Ramirez blueprints.

The original price of the guitar was ¥50,000 in 1980.

I have owned and played several Masaru Matano guitars from 1969 - 1978, and sound-wise the Cervantes has a slightly clearer and cooler tone with better volume and note separation.

The guitar has been taken care of very well but it obviously has not been sitting in a closet all these years, the open voice of the soundboard and the slight wear around the sound hole suggest that it has been regularly played.

Neck: Mahogany with Walnut Strip

Fingerboard: Ebony

Scale: 655mm

Nut width: 50mm

CONDITION:

In exceptional structural condition for its age. There are no splits or cracks or any signs of dehydration. Tuners are original and function smoothly and accurately. The neck is straight, the frets are in excellent condition which along with the low action allow you to play comfortably and enjoyably. The guitar has been stringed with a brand new set of Savarez Cantiga Premium strings and the intonation throughout the guitar is correct.

Cosmetically also in very good condition with minor dings, scratches and the wear around the sound hole that was previously mentioned. A picture is worth a thousand words so please see all pics for best understanding of condition.

POSTAGE / PICK UP:

Guitar will be posted in a hard case that will protect the guitar during transit, it is not of considerable value though so please consider it as a bonus. Plenty of bubble wrap and a heavy duty carton box will also be used. Depending on your location the hard case used may differ from the one pictured due to Australia Post's parcel size restrictions.

Parcel will be shipped with tracking and insurance for the full value of the item.

Guitar can also be picked up in person from Camberwell VIC.
