I have one last remaining JBL D120F. It is in fully functional condition and sounds great, but I noticed that there appears to be a small spot of damage (a line of 1cm or less) on the cone. It does not appear to be punctured through; see the last 2 pics. I would recommend that the spot be reinforced with carefully painted on watered down wood/paper glue but I have not done so (I can at the buyer's request).
Because someone asked: the DC R of this speaker is 6.8Ohms.
The driver appears to have been loaded in a cab when a previous owner
painted the baffle. As such, the rim of the frame and edge of the
cork gasket are black (see rim pic). The cone/surround appears to have
been well masked and is unaffected.
Note also that a previous
user added a cork gasket on the bottom side of the rim - I
have left this because it is actually a good thing if it is to be
front-mounted. If not the cork is easily removed.
From what I
can tell the cone is original to this unit but not the older style
single piece all paper; the surround is the later cloth type
(personally I prefer these, but in the interests of full disclosure,
there you go - the all paper version is more desirable to collectors -
these are for a player, especially good for those who play guitar and
bass as the cloth is more robust). I do not believe it was ever
reconed because the tinsel leads are copper (3rd party recone kits as
currently available are silver/tinned) and due to the apparent age of
the cones. If they were reconed, the work was done a long time ago when
official JBL kits were still available (it's been a few decades).
Note: the shipping costs are estimates based on
destinations of BC and California. If you live closer to Toronto than that it
will likely be cheaper. Feel free to contact me for a specific quote, or if
you are in a hurry pay the estimate and the difference will be refunded. Local
pickup (cash payment) is strongly encouraged where feasible. I gladly combine
shipping for multiple items when possible.
